It is an initiative of the Governor Ayade led Cross River Government to promote GREEN ECONOMY A TOOL FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT, whilst merging beauty with nature and a tenacious cause centered around creating the much needed awareness on Man's direct and indirect impact on her environment.
The show in attendance had prestigious personalities such as
the Prof. Ben Ayade, Governor of Cross River State and his wife, Donald Duke, the Ex-Cross River State Governor.
Miss Africa Calabar 2016, Neurite Mendes was in attendance too as she was hand over to a new Queen.
The Model Show was anchored by Weza Solange and Ik Osakioduwa while Vj Adams and Asari Duke were the green carpet hosts. Various African artists also performed during the show.
The model contest was made up of 25 girls representing 25 different countries in Africa, there were four rounds of appearances by the contestants on different attires.
At the final round, there were just five(5) finalists and the following emerged as Winner, 1st Runner up and Second Runner up respectively as announced by the Judges which included Iyana(Nigerian Artiste), Munachi Abii(Ex-Miss Nigeria) and others;
The winner walked away with a brand new SUV and cash prize of $35,000, the 1st Runner up won the cash price of $10,000 while the second runner up went away with $5,000.
